Web development Manchester: fast, solid and built to be found
Clean, quick, secure builds on the right platform for the job, engineered so Google can crawl it and your customers don’t wait for it.
Plenty of websites look fine and are rotten underneath: bloated themes, forty plugins, four-second load times and markup Google struggles to make sense of. Website development is where those problems are either built in or kept out, and it’s the part of a project you can’t judge from a screenshot.
We build in Manchester for businesses across the UK, on WordPress, Shopify and custom code where it’s genuinely warranted. Every build ships with the unglamorous things done properly: semantic markup, fast templates, sensible caching, security hardening and the technical SEO foundations that decide whether a site can rank at all.
Development sits inside our web design service rather than apart from it: the same team designs and builds, so nothing gets lost in translation between an agency’s designer and someone else’s developer. One brief, one team, one fixed quote.

What’s included
Platform recommendation
WordPress, Shopify or custom, chosen for your budget and plans, with the trade-offs explained honestly.
Performance engineering
Fast templates, image optimisation and caching so the site loads quickly on a mid-range phone on 4G.
SEO-ready markup
Semantic structure, clean URLs, proper titles and schema: built in, not bolted on later.
Security & hardening
Sensible security from day one: updates, permissions, backups and protection against the common attacks.
Integrations
CRMs, booking systems, payment providers and email platforms connected and tested properly.
Real-device testing
Checked on actual phones, tablets and browsers before launch, not just a resized desktop window.
What web development in Manchester should include
The build decides most of what a website can ever do. Page speed, crawlability, security and how easily the site can grow are all set at the development stage, long before anyone argues about button colours. That’s why we treat the technical SEO checklist as part of the build spec rather than a retrofit: heading structure, internal links, schema and redirects are engineered in while the site is still on the workbench.
It’s also why design and development sit with one team at our web design agency in Manchester. When the person building the templates sat in the design reviews, nothing gets lost in handover, and the finished site behaves the way the mock-ups promised: on real phones, on slow connections, under real traffic.
Why Manchester businesses rebuild with us
Most of the development work we take on starts with an inherited problem: a site that looks fine but scores terribly, a plugin stack nobody dares update, a developer who has stopped answering. We begin with a technical review, tell you what’s salvageable, and only rebuild what needs rebuilding. When we rebuilt a clinic’s site with SEO engineered in from day one, it became the platform for 818% organic traffic growth.
And because a build is only as good as its upkeep, every project can roll into website maintenance services that keep it fast, patched and backed up. You own everything either way: code, content, hosting and domain, in accounts under your name.

Questions, answered honestly
Do you outsource the work?
No. Design and development are done in-house by the same small team, which is rather the point: nothing gets lost between a designer in one company and a developer in another. The person who scoped your build is the person you can ask about it, and accountability stays in one place if anything needs fixing.
How long does development take?
A brochure site is typically 4–6 weeks from kick-off to launch; more complex builds 8–12. We give you a realistic schedule up front and flag anything that threatens it early, usually content, which we can write for you.
WordPress, Shopify or custom: which should I choose?
WordPress for content-led sites, Shopify for most ecommerce, custom only when off-the-shelf genuinely can’t do the job. Custom code costs more to build and maintain, so we’ll talk you out of it unless it earns its keep.
Can you take over a site another developer built?
Usually, yes. We start with a technical review to see what we’re inheriting, tell you honestly whether it’s worth improving or replacing, and either way you get a clear picture of what you own.
Who owns the website when it’s done?
You do: domain, hosting, code and content. We set everything up in accounts you control and hand over full access at launch. If we ever part ways, you take the site with you.
