Website redesign Manchester: keep the rankings you’ve spent years earning

A faster, sharper, better-converting site, migrated carefully, so the traffic you’ve built comes with you instead of vanishing on launch day.

The dirty secret of website redesigns: they are one of the most common ways businesses destroy their own search traffic. URLs change without redirects, content gets “streamlined” away, and rankings built over years disappear in a weekend. We’ve been called in to fix enough of these to treat every redesign as a migration first and a makeover second.

Our redesigns start with evidence, not taste. An SEO audit shows what your current site does well (the pages earning traffic and enquiries that must be protected) and what’s genuinely underperforming. Then we redesign around that: better structure, faster pages, clearer paths to enquiry, with every legacy URL mapped and redirected so Google follows you to the new site.

The result should be a site that looks better and performs better, measured in enquiries and revenue, not compliments. That’s the approach our web design team took for a pain management clinic whose rebuilt site went on to grow organic traffic by 818%.

What’s included

Pre-redesign audit

What your current site does well, what it doesn’t, and which pages must be protected during the move.

Conversion-led redesign

Structure, design and copy rebuilt around turning visitors into enquiries, not just a fresh coat of paint.

Full URL & redirect mapping

Every legacy URL mapped to its new home before launch, so rankings and bookmarks survive the move.

Performance upgrade

A redesign is the cheapest moment to fix speed. The new site loads faster than the old one, guaranteed.

Content migration

The content earning traffic moved carefully; the dead weight retired deliberately, not accidentally.

Post-launch monitoring

Rankings and traffic watched closely after launch, so any wobble is caught and corrected in days.

A website redesign in Manchester that starts with evidence

Every redesign we run opens the same way: finding out what the current site quietly does well. The pages you consider embarrassing are often the ones earning your enquiries, and a redesign that deletes them is an expensive way to discover that. A pre-redesign SEO audit maps which pages carry traffic, links and conversions, so the new design is built around protecting them.

From there the redesign becomes a controlled migration: structure improved rather than shuffled, content rewritten rather than binned, and every legacy URL mapped to its new home with the technical SEO work done before launch, not after the traffic graph falls off a cliff.

Why Manchester businesses redesign with us

Partly because we’ve repaired enough redesigns done elsewhere to know exactly where they go wrong, and partly because ours have receipts. The rebuild we did for a regional clinic became the platform for 818% organic traffic growth: the redesign didn’t interrupt performance, it multiplied it.

And sometimes the honest answer is that you don’t need one. If the audit shows sound foundations, our web design team will recommend targeted improvements instead, and you’ll spend a fraction of the money. An agency that only profits from full rebuilds will never tell you that; we’d rather keep you for the next ten years.

Questions, answered honestly

What happens in the first month?

Mostly groundwork. We audit the current site, identify which pages earn traffic and enquiries, map every URL, and agree the structure of the new site before anything is designed. It is less exciting than looking at homepage concepts, but it is the work that stops a redesign costing you the rankings you already have.

How long does a redesign take?

Typically 6–8 weeks for a brochure site, longer for large or ecommerce sites. We add time for redirect mapping and pre-launch checks. A slightly longer schedule beats a fast launch followed by six months of recovering lost rankings.

Will a redesign hurt my Google rankings?

Not if it’s done properly. That’s the point of treating it as a migration. URLs mapped, redirects in place before launch, content preserved, and monitoring afterwards. Redesigns lose rankings when those steps are skipped, and they are skipped depressingly often.

Do I need a redesign or just improvements?

Honestly, sometimes it’s the latter, and we’ll say so. If the foundations are sound, targeted fixes to speed, copy and key pages can deliver most of the benefit at a fraction of the cost. The audit tells us which situation you’re in before you commit.

Can you redesign a site without changing platforms?

Yes. Plenty of redesigns keep the CMS and rebuild what sits on top, which is cheaper and lower-risk. If your platform is genuinely holding you back we’ll recommend a move and handle the migration properly.
